High-quality, silent, all-region DVD player
I was surprised that an inexpensive player would be such high quality. The player functions flawlessly and silently; even the tray open/close motor operates with the tiniest whir. The remote control is smooth and easy to use as well.We got it because we like British shows & movies, and needed a player for region 2 DVDs.

Seems very well designed
I have to say this may be the best-designed device I have ever bought! So far, anyway -- I see some reviews that have encountered failures of some kind. So far mine has behaved perfectly. (Unlike a certain DVR, and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones that lasted six months before physically shattering!) It has a couple of features that may be common but I don't have wide experience. They impress me, anyway! First, the buttons on the remote audibly *click*, so you know when they've activated. All my other remotes just have rubber buttons with no indication of when you've pressed them enough to activate. It makes this remote really easy to use.The other feature of great convenience is "Resume", which may be common these days, but is new to me. When you have to stop a DVD in the middle and turn off the unit, it will automatically restart exactly where you left off the next time you switch on.It comes with an actual printed manual, too... a practice that seems to be getting rarer these days -- headphones, take note! It's compact -- just folded paper -- but complete. Easy to find what you need to know. Even the remote may have had a little more thought put into its design. Very pleased so far.I haven't tried the region-free feature, yet. Never got any foreign DVDs because my previous player was not region-free. Other reviews seem to have had n o trouble with it, though. I've no doubt it will be invaluable at some point.

Good for the money
Not well packed with open sides that could easily be pulled apart to see what was inside the packing and, unfortunately, could be worth STEALING. SEAL SIDES AND ALL OPENINGS. It works ok - my only proviso is that the remote has SO MANY BUTTONS on it and THEY ARE SO VERY SMALL. Very difficult to see and use. Otherwise no problems.

Not bad for an off-brand
I have a number of old DVDs and my old machine would not play most of them, so we decided to try this "off-brand." I was pleasantly surprised. The unit was smaller than I thought, but it has a metal case. So far, all my DVDs play on this, and the controls are simple. I used the HDMI cables and they worked fine. Worth the money.

Access to my beloved classical music revived
I’m ancient and to have my CD and DVD collection available again is a God-send.The player works as expected with delightful audio and video. The remote was a bit tough for my old arthritic fingers but with the aid of one of those plastic jar opening sheets I managed.I’m absolutely delighted with this July special purchase I almost passed on. I’m listening to Mahler 7th symphony as I write this.

Great dvd player
This was bought as a Christmas gift to play dvds from another country. My daughter likes shows from around the world. This works well. Easy to use and set up. It plays multiple dvds from different countries.

Plug & Play, Automatically play your PAL and NTSC DVDs
I wanted a DVD player that I could watch DVDs I purchased on both Amazon US and Amazon UK. For some reason, depending on what country you bought your DVDs from, they have embedded a specific region code into the disc. UK discs used the PAL format and US discs are formatted using the code NTSC. So here's the dilemma, not all DVD players can read both kinds of discs. I still don't understand the reason for this region code system. I live in the US but I can switch to Amazon UK and purchase DVDS there, have them shipped to my US address, but until recentl I had no way to view them because you couldn't buy a PAL player in the US, and vice versa for the UK not having NTSC players available. Now that we can pick up a player such as this that automatically figures the region code and plays it according to format it's wonderful. This little miracle machine, is easy as pie to set up, just plug it in to electric and, second plug goes into an available HDMI slot in the back of the TV. That's it. Now I can watch my US region code discs of The Office and What We Do In The Shadows. Then pop them out and put in my UK region code discs of Plebs and Inside No. 9. And any other of my favorite shows no matter where I bought it. I have an HD Samsung smart TV and what this little DVD player sends to my screen is 100% HD. Not an ounce of degradation. I wish these region free DVD players were always available.*Edit - I've had this DVD player for almost a year, and I picked up one for my 80+ year old Mama this week because I haven't had any problems with my original player. I'm writing this edit because I noticed a few people have had problems recently. I use mine a good amount, had it for almost a year, moved it around in different places in the house, my cat has been known to sit on top of it by the TV, and it survived quite nicely. It's not an expensive machine so if it does poop out after a while I would feel like I got my monies worth. And finally, I mentioned my 80+ yr old Mom because it's easy for her to use as well. She's not really tech savvy but after I gave her a quick demo she can work it. It's very simple actually. One button turns it on and off, one opens and closes the disc door, and there you go. Included remote is also simply set up and not too small.
